Immediately, the Springfield boys realized that the rifle models were identical to the M1E5 they had tested the year before. They created a new model, this time with a standard stock, and called it the T26. Subsequent tests with the T26 were no better than earlier tests with the M1E5. In addition to loud noises and lip gloss, the short work will lead to outdated parts, unreliable operation, and a very dirty air system.
