Taurus Pistol Reviews - A ton of Americans are realizing the importance of gun ownership this time (summer 2020.) Many of these people are buying their first - or at least first gun. Among all the things you should consider when choosing a weapon, the price tag plays a role. We all want the best bang for our buck and will usually settle for something we feel is reliable. One of these budget pistol options is the Taurus G2C 9mm – which I will cover in this review.
The Taurus G2C is a Brazilian-made, double-barreled pistol based on the Taurus PT111 Millennium G2. This pistol is offered in 9mm Luger as well as 40 S&W. Taurus makes about 20 different variations of the G2C—from the matte black model we used in our review to the same gun available in just about any color you can dream up. From the outside, it's easy to see why this gun is so popular. The shorter frame and smaller price tag make it hard to miss for many.

The Taurus isn't exactly a saint in the gun community, and I think it's appropriate that I bring that up. Some people like them and some not so much. A past with quality control issues over the years has raised doubts. While Taurus has experienced some quality control issues in the past, I would like to mention that many speak highly of their customer service team and willingness to address issues.
Taurus G3 Tactical 9mm Semiauto Duty Pistol: Review
It's hard to be critical of a gun with such a cheap price. The saying "you get what you pay for" is commonly applied to the gun industry. The Taurus G2C is (in my opinion) a concealed carry option for those who can't or don't want to spend more. For reference, most pistols in the same class would cost around $500.
The Taurus offers an improved text grip, thumb operated safety, accessory rail, and an impressive 12+1 capacity with G2C. The "hand feel" received by the Taurus G2C is not very good in my opinion - even compared to the best options on the market.
When I saw the Taurus G2C in person, I expected less for the price. Not a great gun, but not bad either. The grip is well designed and fits semi-comfortably in my hand - this is where I got off to a good start.
I headed to the range with a Taurus G2C recently and ran several hundred rounds of several types of ammo through it. The G2C handled all the ammo I threw at it without a problem - including some popular self defense rounds. Recoil was a little snappier than I usually feel from a gun of this size, but overall not terrible.

One problem I encountered while shooting was the trigger guard. The trigger guard actually seemed to dig into my right middle (dominant) toe near the ankle as I tried to maintain a high grip. I think it came from the angle of the trigger and was more fueled by the trigger - something I'll touch on in more detail in this review.
A magazine release on G2C is not advertised as an anomaly. This will definitely discourage left-handed shooters. As for the placement of the magazine version, I was quite happy with it and had no problems using it. I will say that the release is a little on the small side and a little sharp around the edges - not a big deal but worth noting.
Operating the external functions proved to be more straightforward - although I found the slide release a little difficult. I wouldn't have preferred to see a manual safety on a CCW pistol available on the G2C, but it was reasonably available.
For a gun at this price, I didn't expect much in the way of sights and triggers. My experience with both was weak when I stayed with G2C in the range. I didn't think the sight was bad, but the trigger was less than the best on the gun I tested.
Taurus G3c Review: The Best Budget 9mm?
Retrieving and resighting after a shot was controllable with a factory scope. A standard three-point setup is available on the G2C - which has proven to be adequate. As with most attractions, you won't get these things right when shooting in low light.
The trigger on the G2C is something I wasn't a fan of. Maybe I fired the nerf guns earlier with better triggers - yes, it's bad. A unique feature of the G2C trigger is that it is a single action with re-strike. I can see how this could be useful in some situations - although I don't see it as necessary.
I got a long trigger of about 5 pounds and a wall and broke near the rear of the trigger. While it may not bother others, this trigger style felt wrong for me to work with. The trigger didn't seem to break so far back on the trigger that I had to press down so hard on my index finger.
Although I can't say for sure it was related, the trigger guard seemed to dig into the knuckle on my dominant hand while pulling this trigger. I think the very long travel (with a lower trigger guard than usual) contributed to the discomfort.

While out on the range I was able to spend some time testing the muzzle velocity from G2C with a popular self defense round - the Hornady 124 gr. XTP. As is my norm with these types of tests, I fired 5 shots which were tracked using the Labrador unit.
For reference, Hornady advertises a muzzle velocity of 1,110 feet per second out of a 4-inch barrel for the 124 gr. XTP.
My measurements showed an average muzzle velocity of 1,052 feet per second from the G2C. For a 3.2 inch barrel, this result was quite expected. For those who want to see more information on my muzzle velocity test, I have provided the following data.
As for accuracy, I avoid putting too much effort into it as it really depends on the shooter. I was very confident with the accuracy of the G2C and was able to get a good shot at the target within the self defense range. Shooting the G2C quickly and remaining accurate seemed to be more difficult than I usually find with a gun of this size. My theory is that deep stimulation is directly related to that experience.
Taurus G3c Lands In Pakistan
In a crowded gun market with prices ranging from low to high, individuals usually choose what they feel is the best balance between price and quality. G2C has a place in the ranks - although many would argue that the level is too low.
If you can only afford a $200 gun, I feel pretty good after shooting it that the G2C would do the job and perform when needed. That said, I would personally strive to spend $200-$250 on a G2C. Some of the most respected options on the market with better drivers, ergonomics and ultimately better build quality are not too far from this price tag. If you really only had $200 - $250 to spend and didn't have the time needed to save more, I would spend that amount on a well-maintained and decently used gun. The deals are out.
I'm sure this option will remain a very popular seller and I can appreciate the amount of gun for the price. For myself and I'm sure many others, trusting my life to a gun that is designed to be cheap is not attractive. At the SHOT Show and around America, most of the guns I see are polymer framed pistols. .
The pistol shown is similar to other polymer frame guns, but by the same token, the Taurus G3 is a welcome addition.

The Taurus G3 works in the same way as the popular G2 series. The lock function, removal and operation are the same.
The 9mm Luger is a powerful cartridge suitable for defensive use. Likewise, the 9mm is controllable and quite pleasant to shoot with full-sized handguns.
The Taurus G3 9mm is featured with a TRUGLO combat light. This is a great combination for home defense.
Taurus G2s Compact 9mm Review
The G3 is a four-inch barrel with a full hand-filling frame. The pistol comes with two steel magazines, a 15-round version and a 17-round magazine with an extended bottom plate.
